Just watching those Streets of Rage trailers again, it does make me nostalgic, especially when the gameplay appeared. No platforms announced according to that second trailer though. It doesn't look to be too graphics intensive, so I wonder would they release it on smart phones? Hmmm, not sure I'd like to play it on such a small screen though. What platform would you want to play it on? Also, were they the two characters from the original game? It says Axle and Blaze are returning, but can't recall if they were both in the original? Also you said you are glad they kept it 2D, do you think if they made it 3D it would take away from the classic arcade feel? I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, games are very much more sophisticated these days, do you think the gameplay of a 2D sidescroller can hold up? Every PS4 game goes for £50 to start these days, surely they wouldn't expect to charge that much? Maybe PS and XBOX are not the target platforms though.

Speaking of nostalgia, I went to see the Bumblebee movie last month Nog. Obviously Bay wasn't the Director and honestly it had a good story with an actress who can actually act. Also you will be glad to know that the Transformers themselves look much more like their 80's incarnations. It may just be the Transformers movie would have been waiting for lol.

I have been playing God of War lately, it's quite good. It has a sort of Last of Us feel to it, except that it's set within Norse mythology, which I quite like :D. Have you had a chance to play it yourself? It's a father and son story, and the son is actually useful and helps you out, especially if you keep upgrading his capabilities!

Ah I've been having problems lately with my home. Tiles coming off the roof and the piping at the back coming away from the wall in bad weather! Been a pain in the arse. So that's been what I've been up to since Christmas lol. Have you guys had a good Christmas? How was your New Years Eve? I went out to the pub with some friends, nothing to wild, but fun nonetheless.

Also did you ever watch the Bruce Willis movie Unbreakable? Think it was in 1999. What did you think?

Hey, I'm back. I keep missing the opportunity to respond until now. I'll acknowledge points from both your monthly posts. I agree about people going mad with xmas decorations these past few years. Some even insist on placing wired lights all over small trees. I've seen the wild west arcade shooter on old eps of Gamesmaster, was it called Mad Dog? I never saw it back in the day. I probably would have been very impressed. I never liked those grabber machines too much either they offered naff toy prizes. I remember winning a pay-as-go mobile phone from a stacker machine. I wonder if I still have the reflexes to win them nowdays. Once i saw Halo 3 inside those machines when it was a new game.

Ah, SOR4 will prob cost £15 - £20 at most. Blaze & Axel are main playable characters from original game and the other guy was Adam who is kidnapped in the sequels storyline. I was going to say its not likely it will be out for smartphones, but i stand corrected given Steam does offer a free mobile app, just go create an account to browse it all, tons of demos on it aswell. It will be digital download on windows, steam and consoles much like Sonic Mania was. I also want to inform Toejam & Earl just got a new digital game (price £15) released as of March 1st. Oh man, it's early 90s all over again happy days! As for SOR4, there have been good reboots of old 2D fighting scrollers such as Double Dragon Neon over past decade that have made substantial dosh. Smaller studios often know how to attract retro gamers. If the devs made them 3D, it could be a very hit or miss affair. There's only one 3D beat 'em up (not inspired by old franchises) that pulled it off well called God Hand on PS2 which was one player. Check out gameplay on youtube if you desire for analysis. It's an unpopular genre to develop, I imagine because most studios don't see any commercial future in them overall. Besides that, Fighting Force comes to mind as it was 2-player co-op, good for its time, and intended to be Sega's own SOR4 briefly at one point. Explained further in wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_Force
Glad to hear you've been enjoying God of War. I haven't tried it since i don't own PS4. I'm still going through unplayed PS3 titles in my home. This month it's been Tomb Raider (2013) which, incidently, plays more like Last of Us type of survival game
Will you be playing Resi 2 at all? Definitely worth checking out I tried the steam demo its true to original. I uploaded my gameplay results of first attempt.

I watched Unbreakable few years ago. Not entirely my cuppa tea. I decided to skip the film on initial release as I wasn't pleased seeing Willis move in to dramas/thrillers at the time :nono: Did you get around to seeing any Castlevania on Netflix? How about Long Good Friday?
You mentioned old musicals. I also couldn't get onboard with some of them. I did used to really enjoy the zany Yellow Submarine as a kid. It's tricky to find a dvd copy of the film whenever I check in stores. Also never managed to find an upload of it online. Ebay is viable, but sod those prices. Yes, the recent Predator was more like a comedy sadly. Perhaps studios think the originals stealth/suspense-horror element wouldn't be very effective with young audiences in this day & age. They ought to be making it for us ageing hardcore fans dammit.
Also, speaking of eighties action cinema, I found a superb remedy to make up for The Predafail. Mainly a ultra violent parody of Commando overall: youtube.com/watch?v=No6isuzn0FQ

Not a driver myself or vehicle enthusiast, I know you potentially are. I'm aware car design changed curvy to blocky once or twice over time. Do you think this video informs accurate history at all?

Something to motivate you while making your next post. Game and film have no true binding, merely coincidence they share the same title.

Pot heads enjoy their recreational activities. Make of this what you will :)

Haha yes, that old arcade game with the lightguns was called Mad Dog McCree. Here is a complete playthrough:

Looks pretty decent by 1990 standards. Reminds me of a more sophisticated version of Duck Hunt lol. Ah those grabber macbines are a complete con, I had a few tries on them years ago, mainly just for the sake of winning rather than actually wanting the prize. But I never won, but now they all seem to have £10 notes attached to the soft toys, have you noticed that?

I just checked out God Hand on youtube there, reminds me a bit of Shenmue graphics lol. Also I think by the time Sega were considering Yeah the genre is not too lucrative, same with real time strategy games. Which is a shame because I loved some of those old games. I probably asked you before, but did you ever play Command and Conquer: Red Alert? Some of the cut scenes from it were hilarious lol. Check them out if you played it and fancy some nostalgia:

It's a wonder I never heard of Fighting Force because it's the sort of thing that might have interested me on the N64. Although for fighting games on that console it was hard to beat the old wrestling games. Four player royal rumble was just a lot of fun with friends :D .

Ah you've been playing the 2013 Tomb Raider? What did you think of it? I actually quite enjoyed it myself, not as good as Last of Us of course. Did you see the recent Tomb Raider film which seemed to be based on, or inspired by, that game? Unfortunately I never really got into the Resident Evil games, but not sure why as I do love the horror genre. The second one is considered to be the best?

Got to run here, but this reply isnt' finished. So this is a to be continued. Hope to complete my reply tomorrow!

Ah about Unbreakable, I sort of liked it. It wasn't what I had expected it to turn out to be in the end, but Bruce Willis as a kind of super hero was interesting. Plus Jackson is always great. Still, I don't recommend the sequel Glass, which disappointed me. Ah yes I did watch The Long Good Friday some time back, it was good and Bob Hoskins is always good value, but I find it hard to really appreciate gangster movies because the anti-hero often dies in the end. As it happens did you know there was a sequel written (but never made) for Long Good Friday, in which it was to be revelaed that Hoskins escaped the predicament he found himself in? Speaking of old movies (and musicals), I watched Little Shop of Horrors again recently ...still holds up and I still laughed at Steve Martins nutty dentist lol. Unfortunately I hear they may be planning another remake of it .

I tried to view that Commando Ninja video you linked, but it requires a Google account for some reason, hmmm. They are always after more of our data it seems.

I think that video regarding car design history is definitely accurate. We actually have a perception now (in my opinion) that curvy = futuristic. You just have to look at a lot of concept models that never make it to market. Although I didn't know they were testing them in wind tunnels :D.

Haha, never heard of that Commando game before, but the graphics remind me a bit of Ikari Warriors for the Amiga. I'm sure I've probably mentioned it before, did you ever play it? Here is a gameplay vid, although the graphics are much worse than I remembered lol:

What was that wrestling game they were playing in the pot head vid? That was bonkers lol. And speaking of bonkers, did I ever mention a TV show called Happy? I know we sometimes comment on the lack of originality out there these days, but trust me there aren't too many shows like Happy :wut:. I was pure entertainment! I highly recommend it if you get the chance.

Turns out that the Americans are planning to send people back to the moon within 5 years: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-47721467
Is this something that interests you? I find it fascinating, but the article would almost leave me to believe that the only reason for doing it is to get there before the Chinese :S

Do you own 3D television at all? curious as I just flogged a copy of T2 3D disc on ebay, twas a spare disc came with bluray i got for xmas. Never heard of that suggested sequel of Long Good Friday until you mentioned it. Does sound like it could have been pretty good with same writers involved. Any clue why we rarely see proper crime/gangster films without the childish slapstick? have the guy ritchie and danny dyer geeza movies buggered it beyond belief? The genre is due a true revival either way.
Finally, there's a live-action Sonic The Hedgehog film on the way later this year. First you've heard of it aswell? I think it will look like detective pikachu style. There's no videos yet, but images recently leaked how they've designed him. Why show him being idle? https://i.ytimg.com/vi/olHwm8UDHJE/maxresdefault.jpg

Ah, good old C&C. Yeah, over night fan after trying it on friends PC when original and Red Alert had just come out. They were swiftly released on PS1 and i remember ordering it from a gaming mag then taking my console+game to same friends house to enjoy pvp matches via two TVs on a linkup cable. Sounds like something out of the stone ages now doesn't it! Did you play Tiberian Sun at all? Played it on release but never since. Most the cutscenes featured James Earl Jones & Michaelangelo Bean. If you did, was this the game where your troops could quickly die from standing/walking on the tiberium? or was this in other C&C games?
I'm aware of a recent Tomb Raider film, not seen it mind. I do agree it probably was loosely based on 2013 survival game. Trying to remember if Kermode slammed it, but I'm thinking he said it was adequate for a game-based film. He's gone soft on reviewing those kinda films lately, i reckon he got fed up of maniacal ranting about them throughout the noughties.
Ikari Warriors! Yeah, it's very similar to commando. I have indeed played Ikari on my PS3 cos it's available from playstation store for peanuts. I remember you mentioned it eons ago when we use to chat in PSO lobby for hours on end. I always assumed you meant Commodore64 version until now haha. Yeah, top arcade game clearly inspired by rambo. There was a rambo game just like ikari made by Sega for master system which was altered from 'rambo' to secret commando in europe for some odd reason. In the pot heads video the wrestling game they play on is Mat Mania which apparently has cult status amongst US game enthusiasts and recently put on PS store. I'll have a look at Happy tv series when there's nothing else on.
Regarding the moon trip news, why do you imagine americans want to get the idea off the ground before chinese can? (i'm not a galaxy enthusiast, keep it light lol ).
