Oh yeah the weather was awful over December and I was not amused by storm Eleanor! Did you experience the high winds? Also rather cold at the moment! I also don't live far from a supermarket, but I know what you mean about the elderly. But if they an use the internet they could order groceries to be delivered. But then again maybe a lot of them don't know how to use a cpmputer, I know my gran never could and it didn't matter how much I tried to teach her, she just couldn't grasp it really.

Speaking of the horrible weather, it's not just the elderly who have trouble, apparently taxi drivers also do! There was a Friday night I was out with some friends for a Christmas drink, taxt was booked but never showed up! Did't manage to get one until 3 am :O !

Oh I've seen all the episodes of Stranger Things and was thoroughly enjoying them. Never really noticed anything that seemed out of place. I never played Dungeons & Dragons myself so I assume that was how it was played? I never considered the bikes really, I had a BMX myself when I was a kid but I remember some other kids that had weird bikes so I just assumed there were many styles out there. I suppose the one things that annoyed me was how capable and sure of themselves the kids were. But lots of shows/films do that these days. Did you ever play Dungeons & Dragons yourself? I remember the weird cartoon too lol.

I think JJ Abrams who directed super 8 was a child of the 80s so I think he was just making a nostalgia film. Kind of like Stephen King always writing about childhool in the 50's/60's . But yeah the feel was quite similar to ET I though.

yeah I did play Super Mario 3 back in the day. Been a looong time though. I think that challenge would be quite difficult lol. Have you tried it? Speaking of Mario Kart, I always preferred Mario Kart 64, the level called Banshee Boardwalk was the best :D ! I would definitely buy a mini N64 because it would be good for when friends are round here for a few beers lol. Also I heard some people managed to add more games to the mini SNES, did you hear that? Ah the good old days of game rental. We used to rent Royal Rumble all the time lol. My brothers and I went through a brief period of watching WWF so it was quite fun.

Also speaking of MK, I have been playing a new game by the makers of MK, called Injustice 2. It's a side scolling fighter game like SF and MK, but it's set in the DC universe with characters like Batman and Superman. But because it's from the same people who make MK games it also has Sub-Zero and Raiden :D . Ever play it?

I've not seen Married to the Mob, but I love Trading Places and Plans, Trains & Autombiles so I will definitely give it a go!

P.S. did you have a good Christmas/New year?

P.P.S did you hear that Quentin Tarantino may actually be directing the next Star Trek film? I just want Sam Jackson to show up shouting "who let these mother fucking snakes on this mother fucking starship"! Lol.

That's pretty grim you were waiting outside until 3AM  Did you contact another taxi service in the end? It's best to keep a few taxi numbers in your phone for these unfortunate occasions. I use them once in a blue moon as they cost a bomb.
Yeah, the elderly don't entirely understand how to operate the internet. They stick to their landline for communication. Ordering groceries is often too complex and fiddly for them sadly. I know how they feel about the shift in modern tech sometimes. I had a bank account with barclays for over a decade, then two years ago I wanted to make a new account so walked in there to discuss it, only to be met with "We don't do that any more. You have to set it up online etc". While on the subject, I can't assure you I'll be online much this year to reply to your posts due to financial difficulties. I may be silent after March for a few months. Of course, when things improve, I shall inform.

First use of a drone to save a person's life? Bit of a lazy lifeguard mailing it in there ha ha.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-42731112

Yeah, I had a pretty good christmas I spent most of it playing Destiny taken king. I don't think I was ever aware of Dungeons or Dragons or even the short-lived '80s cartoon until recent years. On the other hand, i spent most my pocket money on Warhammer figures and football stickers. Collecting images of mens heads to put in an album, what was all that about...?
I haven't looked in to SNES Mini much at all except the line-up. I know they put Starfox 2 in there which has never seen the light of day before. Did you check out the atmospheric masterpiece Super Metroid?
Speaking of Starfox, Lylat Wars was one of the best games released for N64, did you ever play that? It comes across as the type of game you'd play through once and sell, but it had surprising replay value. I don't play fighting games except Double Dragon type scrollers, so Injustice 2 has escaped me completely.
Is that Snakes on a Plane any good? I'm in the minority of those who have never seen it. I don't have any interest in Star Trek unfortunately. I'm beginning to wonder if you're visualising me as the type of individual who amasses sci-fi memorabilia and attends conventions

OK, these films are download only, not click & watch as I previously stated :taped:. I hope you have a spare 589MB space?

Being a generous soul, I decided to also upload one of the best british films ever made, featuring a mesmerising and unforgettable performance by Bob Hoskins which I don't believe he won anything for. And yes, the guy playing his right-hand man is that doctor from TV series Casualty. Size 485MB.

Could you thrash Brosnan at his own game?

Sorry for the late reply Nog! I'll write a proper reply in the next few days. Sorry to hear about your financial troubles. Unfortunately I suspect many in the UK are heading for the same difficulties.

P.S. Oh i'd thrash Brosnan at that game all right!

    P.P.S. welcome deewelch. I don't think I'm familiar with that song. 80's?

I kept seeing this on Ad on TV and Youtube during end of last year. Did you catch it? Thoughts?
There's some other clip I just saw where he says he has wore the same Rolex for 25 years while filming and deep sea diving.

About the taxis that night, yeah I had lots of numbers to contact but most wouldn't even answer their phones. It was ridiculous! Will never use that taxi firm again though.

Sorry to hear about your financial difficulties Nog. I'll keep an eye on the forums for any reply you might have the chance to post though. I hope things improve for you soon. Although with Brexit steaming ahead things could get worse. Hopefully we luck out though.

Haha, that was a lazy lifeguard indeed! But interesting nonetheless. I wonder will they replace lifeguards in the future? What happens when we all get replaced by robots, who will have money to buy the things they build :O ? Big corporations may be too short sighted.

Ah Destiny: The Taken King .....is it any good? I know a lot of people who gave up on Destiny due to the money the developers were asking for, followed by a full new game. They felt it was taking the piss a bit. Is it much different from the first installment?

Ah I never got into the football sticker craze, but one of my brothers did. He even said when he was really young he had collected the coins that were released for one of the World Cups, possibly Italia 90. He said there was one for each country. Any recollection of that? For the mini SNES we only played a bit of one of the Mario games, but stuck mostly to Mario Kart. Yeah we had Lylat Wars, we got it one Christmas and loved it! The main game was good but the mutiplayer was a brilliant laugh with a few friends as it had 4 player! Good old N64 was my first experience playing against more than one other human lol.

Lol Snakes on a Plane has to be seen to be believed. If you like Sam Jackson definitely give it a go. It is so absurd, but somehow entertaining at the same time lol. Although if you're in the market for a Sam Jackson movie I recommend The Hateful Eight. Very atmospheric and mostly takes place in one room.

Lol no I definitely didn't take you for the convention type. Just knew you liked some sci-fi in general.

Ah I'll check out those films, but I possibly have in fact seen Married to the Mob before. Never seen The Long Good Friday though. Have to say my favourite Hoskins film is Who Framed Roger Rabbit lol. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Ah Warhammer eh? Which one did you collect? Was it the original of the sci-fi 40K one? I was into that a while myself when I was younger, but my painting skills were never the best lol. Which army or armies did you play with?

Check this out, apparently new tech can help in avoiding a car running over a dog. But they tested it by driving a car at a real dog  : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/technology-43240740/huawei-s-ai-phone-tested-by-driving-car-at-dog

P.S. apologies for the late replay, again lol

I'm at home on a saturday afternoon continually glancing at the bizarre weather that's switching every five minutes from heavy blizzards to sunshine on repeat. Never seen anything like it before really. It's the sheer speed of change that boggles the mind ha. In the news, it's been dubbed the mini beast from the east. Your link about huawei cars avoiding dogs was a bit dark heh. Are dogs on roads a higher risk than wild animals I wonder.

Did you notice this in the news recently? Topman stated it's a reference to a Bob Marley remix released in 1996 then removed the item. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence. What were the designers thinking? (especially if they are english). What do you make of it all?
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-43424172

Destiny TK is just the same as base game with more content, co-op multiplayer modes etc. I wish I had done some research before choosing the base game originally. Ah well, flogged it on ebay for more than I purchased it. Do you know where your mates shop for their games? Do they search for copies online? It's usually a cheaper method than shopping at local game stores.

An old friend and his brother got me interested in the warhammer hobby and we used to travel to birmingham Games Workshop twice a month. I remember them owning the board game, Space Wolves set and a dreadnaught. I collected Ultramarines in 40K and Orc/goblins with fantasy warhammer. The largest figure i remember having was some plastic ultramarine tank. I always felt pressure when it came to painting new figures because i wasn't always convinced painting over errors would work. Here's some of my favourite figures that i owned a couple of (goblin fanatics & squig riders). Which side did you collect?

I watched Deadfall (1993) last night. What a stinker. One of those scriptless drifting nowhere type of films which felt like it was made for TV. I only gave it a chance for M. Biehn involvment as the main character. On the plus side, Nic Cage co-stars as a hilarious pill-popping nutjob. What accent & ethnicity is this meant to be!? lol

Whenever you're ready, Dis lol Let me show you something I never saw coming in a life time. Hollywood has gone and made a film based on a scarcely remembered 1987 arcade game about monsters wrecking cities https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rampage_(video_game).
A franchise that has not seen the light of day for eons now :whoa: The only guys who will understand what it is are retro gamers. Do they expect people to go in based on the CG monsters and johnson alone? Is this what mainstream entertainment has come to lol
And in the game's story, the playable monsters are formerly human scientists involved in experiment gone wrong. Guess the writers concluded that would be too far-fetched in film.

How do you think it will perform at the box office Dis? It's in cinemas as we spe... type

Finally getting a chance to reply lol.

Ah yes that weather was mental! I mean usually I don't mind the winter and dark nights. But this winter has just gone on too long! We need some Spring very soon! Although, from what I read we should expect winters to become more like this last one for years to come!

I think cats are the animal most at danger on the roads, they are too curious/adventurous and seem to get dazzled by car head lights. Mad creatures at times. I do like them though, but more of a dog person. I think dogs usually are ok because owners should really have them on a lead when near a road :)

Ah yes that 96 Bob Marley shirt. Hmmm, well I can see why some people would be upset, but I do think it was a genuine mistake or misunderstanding and it seems to have blown over. Topman acted quickly and apologised for any inadvertant offense caused, so I think it's right to withold any further critism.

Yeah most people I know purchase games online, always looking for a good deal. Only on a rare occasion do they use a supermarket. But I don't know anyone who shops in Game itself. Do you? It's a shame, but it seems like many high street stores are destined for the scrap yard. Any service/product supplying company that can move online seems to be trying to do so and cut out the middle man in the supply chain to cut costs. Most likely that's why things are less expensive. I did also hear that some online companies, like Amazon, were considering using unmanned drones to deliver their goods. Makes you wonder what jobs will be available for most people in the future. And if there are no jobs for a huge number of people, who will be able to afford to buy the products/services? Interesting times.

Ah yes, good old Warhammer. With 40K I liked the Necrons, the original ones they released looked a lot like T800 Terminators :D . But I also liked the Tyranids as they reminded me of the xenomorphs from alien! My brothers collected Eldar and Space Marines. I always preferred the bad guys lol. For fantasy Warhammer I had a stint of collecting the Skaven (big rat guys that were hilarious) and also tried to collect the undead with vampires, but didn't get far with that colletion. The painting was anightmare, I was terrible at it, but I used to use some of my pocket money to get my brother to paint mine for me, which was much better, but also left me penniless! Did you ever play the Warhammer Quest board game?

That Deadfall film looks completely bizarre lol, nic cage is always great at being weird. But what was going on with that hair  ?

Yeah I saw that Rampage was being made into a movie. Looks completely mad! Hollywood seems to like monster movies at the moment, what with Godzilla and Kong making comebacks. I remember playing the original game and a friends house who had an old spectrum, or was it a commodore, hmmm. It was a fun game, and I think they remade it for a later console but can't recall which one. Did you ever play the remake/sequel? Bizarrely I think it'll do ok because Johnson seems to just be box office gold. But I doubt it will do as well as they hope. I think this because it does have popcorn flick competition from Pacific Rim . There is a very good horror movie out at the moment, I know you aren't a big fan of them, but "A Quiet Place" is quite unique, so if you ever get a chance and feel like getting creeped out you should give it a go lol.

Well it seems we have gone to war once again. I don't know about you, but I wish we wouldn't get involved. Yes events seem to be terrible, but I don't think we can afford to keep paying for military campaigns. The politics behind it all is fascinating though. Have you been following it? What do you make of it all?

    Haha, I loved this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-...ce-dog-brings-los-angeles-car-chase-to-an-end :D

Right, I've found a bit of spare time to make a full reply. I'm checking images of those 40K Necrons and must admit they managed to slip by me during the '90s because I have zero memory of them. Pretty interesting though. I do recall the beanpole Tyranid clan. As for Skaven I thought they were ugly fuckers made for weirdos. Yeah, you can tell some warhammer clan designs were inspired by the likes of Aliens, Predator, T800 Terminator etc. back in the day.
I wonder if any Thundercats characters inspired them aswell. Today, I discovered cartoon network have decided to create the below abomination. Yes, believe your eyes. That's the style of animation & humour they've chosen. God help us.
    http://uk.ign.com/articles/2018/05/18/thundercats-returning-in-new-animated-show

Regarding purchasing physical games, I do it half the time so I can sell them on when I get bored of them. My local GAME store closed down 2 weeks ago after a 15 year standing. Furthermore, ever since Dixons and Woolworths folded, it's increasingly challenging to find stores to browse for electronic goods.

Did I ever play Rampage remake/sequel on later consoles? Nope, I only ever played original port on Sega Master System. I wasn't aware they made further games until years later. They never progressed it in to a 3D city trashing experience so I wouldn't have cared.

I downloaded and watched Time Bandits recently based on your recommendation from ages ago lol. Loved it great film I only wish I saw it when I was a kid.
Did you see Ready Player One at all? How about the old films I uploaded? Finally, where do you stand on Halloween (1978)? They've made a new one for october this year and I gather the storyline is ignoring every film made after the original (general consensus is only original film was good). Plus, John Carpenter has some involvment as music composer and exec producer. Trailer just released is below :)
I think it'll most likely turn out similar to H20 from 1998 if you ever saw that one. Basically, Jamie Lee C. sitting around home anxious and paranoid about Myers escaping jail to track her down after exactly 20 years aaaand whaddya know. Bit of a cheesefest that one mind.

Came across this other day. I can't believe I haven't noticed this on youtube until now.

I have returned! Ah yes I remember the Tyranid and Eldar and so forth lol. They seem to be more inspired by the Lord of the Rings stories. The Eldar are Elves and there are space Orks lol. I was looking at the current form of the Necrons and they look much more like skeletons than T800 Terminators, which is a shame. Seems they are inspired by the undead faction of the main Warhammer game. The range of teams and miniatures is huge these days :O . Very expensive too! Looks like a lot of people are making money on ebay by selling read assembled and painted armies and individual miniatures.

I didn't notice anything that might have been inspired by Thundercats though. Oh that new animated show looks awful! It appears to be almost Ren and Stimpy style animation. From the article it appears that they are going with a very tongue in cheeky silly humour version. I very much doubt it will appeal to fans of either the old show or that anime style remake they did a few years ago. Did you ever get around to watching the full season of it? I saw a handful of episodes and was reasonably impressed, possibly due to nostalgia :D.

Yeah I know what you mean about it being difficult to find high street electronics stores that will sell games/consoles. Supermarkets seem to be the best bet these days. Online retailers and the likes of Ebay are taking all the business away from those stores. There are a lot more options online I suppose, but it's sad because you loose the brouse factor I think.

Oh yeah Time Bandits was fantastic! I remember loving it when I was a kid, although I didn't realise John Cleese was famous for anything else until I was older lol. Yeah I saw Ready Player One and have to say I thought it was great and definitely recommend it, I think you will really enjoy it if even just for the many many 80's references :p . I also watched Married to the Mob! I had seen it years ago but had forgotten a lot about it, including thet Alec Baldwin was even in it and that he gets bumped off early on  . I thought it was very funny and holds up well, but somehow Dean Stockwell will always be Al from Quantum Leap and it's hard to see him as a villain :PP . Didn't get a chance yet to watch The Long Good Friday though.

The 1979 Halloween is one of my all time favourie horror films. It basically started and perfected the slasher genre, nothing has really topped it since (in my opinion). H2O was a nostalgic revisitation and I tend to ignore the existence of all the other Halloween sequels, including the Rob Zombie remake. I hadn't realise they were making another one, but I will definitely watch it as Jamie Curtis is back and it's a direct sequel to the first one, ignoring the others just as I do :D . However I would like to give an honorable mention to Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, because it has nothing to do with any of the others and tries to be something very different, but very weird. All about druids and sacrifices lol. Give it a look if you're ever really bored :tooth: .

Speaking of sequels, there is a Bumblebee Transformers spin off coming. Now I know what you're thinking, but Bay is not the director and it's a prequel which is set in the 80's so it can ignore all the terrrible Transformers movies. Also the cast is quite good and the trailer actually looks like it might be decent. Check it out: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4701182/videogallery?ref_=tt_pv_vi_sm

Haha it's always great to find a hidden gem like those Die Hard bloopers! Makes me want to go hunting for more 80s classic bloopers!

Ah so the World Cup has started, do you have much interest in it? Will you watch any England games? What do you think are our chances?

Also have you seen the clips from Last of Us 2? Really looking forward to that one, it seems like that will be focusing on storyline just as much as gameplay again :D. Like playing a movie! Not sure if they can top the original though.

Yeah, you did mention possibly having already watched Married to the Mob during your youth. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Until recently, I never knew Dean Stockwell was involved with anything else besides good old Quantum Leap.

Let me know when you've had time to see Long Good Friday. It contains some harsh violence+torture, so I suggest watching it alone or with mates. Summer is the best time to see it imo. They shot most the film during an english summer and it feels plain shit watching sunny films during bleak weather.
I hold a similar opinion of that 2011 Thundercats. Watched a few episodes and was mildly impressed overall. It was far too modernised for me, but it's citizen kane compared to what they're doing with the franchise now.

Just combed youtube for LOU2 gameplay videos and found little to no variety always same clip. I played the fudge out of original and this looks pretty much the same deal, so it should be superb. Might be slightly worse than original gameplay wise, but too early to judge. I noticed adult ellie often shouts "mother fucker!" at nearby enemies. I mean come on. Her vocabulary wouldn't be exactly the same as teenager surely.
Have you looked at Resident Evil 2 at all? The fans kept begging Capcom for a modern remake and they eventually agreed to make it. The character graphics & animations are jaw-dropping. It could well give LOU2 some fierce competition if they're released at same time.

You're determined to find me a good Transformers film, aren't you? You inform me of them at least once a year. Film looks all right. If its meant to be set during '80s america it doesn't look it in set design etc. I'll watch Bumblebee on video stream when its released IF you agree to watch the good old animated film? lol

I may actually watch a couple of world cup matches because its getting interesting. There's a huge construction crane near my house with a england flag pinned to top of it lol I would upload an image but my camera has bit the dust.
I think world cup 98 was the last time I gave half a crap about following anything football related. I just grew out of it and i wasn't fascinated by the sport to begin with.
That said, I believe england thrashed Panama from doing as instructed by John Barnes in their warm-up prior to the match. In the following game against Belgium, they did not. Least we don't have to worry about contending with Germany for once...

Remember playing the side-scrolling arcade game Final Fight? I just discovered a fan made film about the 3 vigilantes who vow to clean up the crime ridden Metro City. Worth a watch on the train to work ha ha. It's been released and uploaded on YT.

Yeah Dean Stockwell's best known roll was Al in Quantum Leap, but I believe he is very much a jobbing actor. Works a lot, but never major starring roles and never an A lister. Still a very good actor though, always liked him.

I'll definitely get around to watching the Long Good Friday, will let you know when I do. But been absorbed in reading a book series at the moment, which is being turned into a TV show. It's called The Passage. Maybe not your cup of tea though. It's sort of about vampires. Sort of lol.

Speaking of watching films set in particular seasons with particular types of weather ....I love a film set in bleak surroundings/weather. I support it's one of the reasons why I love The Thing and The Hateful 8. Great films! I assume you have seen the first one, but ever checkout the second? It's a Tarantino film and as such is quite violent!

I haven't seen any LOU2 gameplay videos either. Perhaps they are be secretive to ramp up expectation. Can't wait for it though! I was never a fan of the Resident Evil games, but I don't know why. I love horror and the games were always very well designed. But for some odd reason I could never retain enough interest to complete any of them. You say RE2 is the best of the lot? Hmmm, I may check out the re-release. However, God of War its getting a lot of praise and my mate is playing it at the moment and says it's fantastic. Have you played it at all yourself? Apparently the character dynamic is similar to LOU because it's about a character called Kratos and his son (in a viking setting). If my brother has it I may go and play it at his place some time. Struggling to find the time these days though lol.

Haha I like to keep you up to date with the Bayformers franchise as I know you hate them! I hope to report their demise to you one of these days lol. But I thought a Formers film that isn't directed by Bay could be right up your alley. I wonder about the animated film your mentioned though, do you think it requires nostalgia to enjoy it? It's probably on youtube lol, so I could watch it if you definitely think I will enjoy? I actually quite like animated films from time to time!

Ah poor England, we flattered to deceive again. Did very well in this World Cup with getting to the semi-final, but alas it was not to be . Even if we did make it to the final I feel France would have been too much for us, they have a crop of really top players that have come through all at the same time (lucky I suppose). But they will be a force for a while now I suspect.

Lol I love that vid of John Barnes, he did the same thing on League of Their Own :D . Was a fantastic player and not afraid to make fun of himself!

Wow I do remember Final Fight and was starting to watch that fan film, but realised that it's actually feature length :O ! Someone went to a lot of effort there! Unfortunatley don't have time at this moment to watch it all. I thought it was going to be about 5 minutes as it was fan made lol.

Oh have you seen the trailer for the new Predator film? Think I said before that it's a direct sequel to the original. I like some of the cast and here is the trailer: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3829266/videogallery?ref_=tt_pv_vi_sm . What are your initial impressions?

Also did you see that the UK military is planning on building a new stealth fight jet which will have lazer weapons :O. It can also be flown by a human or unmanned! Check it out: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44848294 . Feels like we're heading for Star Wars territory lol.
