I decided to check out Tweegs profile and he hasn't signed in since Feb last year. Oh well, I'm sure he'll return in a few months time. By the way, I've made two posts (again) and the other is on the previous page.

Can you fathom this was broadcast 8AM on a saturday kids show? The last five seconds is priceless from the host. It's the same show Timmy Mallett appeared on I think. Are you a fan of Depeche music at all? Or is synth-pop not your cup of tea? They were in a experimental phase around this time I'd say. lol

Do you remember one day few weeks ago when it was super windy? the day news reported a woman in wolverhampton was hit on the head by a projectile and died. I decided to upload this from outside my home on that day:
I've been here 16 years and never seen any damage caused by the weather until now. It took the council just over a week to get round to shifting that lazy gits.

The following day I wake and see this parked outside. If it had been there two days earlier I'd have thought; hmph, that's a unusual sight. I think it was on a sunday so driver managed to avoid the parking warden, but cctv can see the area. More importantly, who was driving that!?
I suspect a T-800 was sent through time to prevent looming nuclear war. He stopped there to ask directions to westminster and sink a pint in the pub just outside this image:

Ah yes the fatalities in MK ....Lui Kang's was the easist to do certainly. Do you remember reptile from MK2? He could briefly turn invisible, but the problem was neither player could see him and you didn't know what you were doing lol. I don't think I ever played killer instinct though. But I did see that MK film, with Christopher Lambert as Raiden, which was quite amusing. The sequel was terrible though! Never got into a fight while watching that film, but a punch up usually did begin if we were watching the Karate Kid or Wrestling for some reason lol.

Have Valve gone out of business or something? Wonder why it's taking them so long to release another game. I haven't played DOTA 2, although as a real time strategy game it does seem intriguing. I never downloaded Steam myself, but I probably should. I just can't seem to find the time for much gaming these days though .

Oh yes I have seen the entire first season of Westworld and it was very good! Harris and Hopkins are brilliant in it! It's a slow burner though, and I advise you to avoid all spoilers! Thandie Newton is also very good in it! Have you seen the original Westworld film? I don't want to say anything more about it though, don't want to ruin anything :) .

Ah so Tweeg has been gone for over a year. Hopefully nothing happened to him, I know he got that new job after losing his previous job but I can't see how that would stop him paying a visit to the forum. Was the other regular called Sonic? He/she never returned after the forum was updated and all the passwords etc changed.

I don't mind synth-pop too much, but have never followed Depeche. Lol, I am just trying to work out why they have a shower curtain behind them :p . Is Timmy Mallet still alive? Do you remember Yellow Polka Dot bikini :whoawhoa: ?

Oh yeah I remember that stormy windy weather alright! I could't sleep due to the noise of it  . Thought my roof was going to come off!

Speaking of Arnie, I've heard rumours he may have a cameo appearance in this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3829266/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Some of these look painful! Why do people do these things?

The guys in the Depeche video have a sheet of metal roofing attached to a rail for sound effects. I'm surprised you think it's a shower curtain :p. Check it again and you'll realise. They did this quite often when recording interesting sounds to insert in to their songs. Not sure if they're the only band who went around doing it though.
I do believe Mallet is still alive. In the years following his stint on morning television he took his act to university audiences who used to watch his show. But that was 15 years ago, I'm not so sure about nowadays. I remember a couple of kids on my street singing the polka dot song back in 1990. If it wasn't for them I'd probably have no memory of it. I can also remember them going on about Jason & Kylie popularity in those days. Thank god that died off pretty quickly.

I have indeed seen Westworld (1973) after hearing of it from Kermode few years back. The films poster looks great too. Back when they put some imagination in to them instead of soft porn covers. As with many films, it makes you wonder how accurate it is to the novel on which its based. There was a dull sequel Futureworld which simply pales in comparison... including the silly poster.

I found this 80s DVD, amongst the modern plop, demanding my attention on a store shelf for just 50p not so long ago. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082348/
So without any prior knowledge of it, good film and fairly violent/bloody for a fantasy-adventure also love the costumes and old special effects. The type of film I'd enjoy sitting through on a sunday afternoon as a kid. Just thought I'd bring it up seeing as there's a King Arthur film just come out. Also, I have another 80s DVD I picked up, but I'll save it for my next post given that nearly all I'm banging on about it is films today lmao

How much is known of The Predator Jungle Vacation: Part IV so far? Will it be set in a jungle/rain forest once more? I don't want to see Olivia Munn she's vacuous and can't act... who the hell thought that's want Predator fans want to see. I'm also not thrilled about an Arnie returning cameo. We've seen it done before. Even if Arnold never comes aboard, I can assure you they will somehow re-use "You're one ugly mofo".
What did you think of Predator 3 from few years ago? It was enjoyable overall, some good action sequences, but I didn't have any desire to watch again. It missed the suspense of the Predator stalking them before the kill. The sword fight was absurd too. Speaking of stalking before the kill, I watched Cujo (1983) for first time recently. It's not much good except the scene where they're trapped in the car alone and it keeps returning, but quite glad i saw it as adult rather than child because that St Bernard doggie isn't a pleasent one lol.
Have you seen the new full trailer for Blade Runner 2049 yet? the striking physical set design isn't quite up to snuff of the 35 year old original. How that's even possible I dont know. It's a comparable complaint to how T-1000 in T2 still looks more detailed, fluid/animated than the Genysis version. People are complaining Goslin looks unmoved and uninterested every moment he's in. Yeah, they have a point. That said, he's only doing as he's instructed. Oh, reminds me. Alien Covenant is out, whats your view on it? looks rather silly overall.

Arnold and Eastwoods one liners stand out among the crowd. The uploader missed Tony Montanas "I ain't gonna kill you.... Manola, shoot that piece'a shit." And Biehn in Aliens "Eat this!!".

I haven't tried VR yet, but I've heard a few people who have say that this game (among others) gave them mild motion sickness. Odd given it's just steering left to right. Looks like the kind of game with short-lived gameplay, so it's just as well, Heh.

Hey Nog, sorry for the slow reply. Had a death in the family and just trying to get arrangements sorted here. I should have a proper reply in the next fews days after the funeral.

Had a quick look at that VR vid you posted ....do you think it's a full proper game though? Hmmmm.

Ahhh yes, I see the sheet metal now lol .....I honestly thought it was a shower curtain

I didnt realise Westworld was based on a novel! I might have to check that out, I do love good sci-fi/fantasy novels. I wonder if there novel is similar in tone to the new tv series. Never seen the Furtureworld sequel, I did hear it got bad reviews so never bothered with it.

I love that King Arthur film, saw it when I was a kid and was mesmerised by it! It's an 80s cult classic. Speaking of the new Arthur film, I went to see it and it is no Excalibur. It has it's moments though.

There isn't much known about the Predator film, accept that it will be a sequel to the original, so at least it's not a silly remake. I think the only thing I ever saw Olivia Munn in was X-Men Apololypse where she didn't have much to do, so can't really judge her acting abilities. That film was the worst of the X-Men franchise though. I enjoyed Predator 3, I thought it was interesting that it was set on an Alien planet, you can see they were trying something a bit different but also with a nod to the original, which was commendable in an of itself. But I find it hard to see Adrian Brody as an action star. I did like that the setting was a jungle again.

Oh I saw Cujo when I was a kid and it is one of the few films that scared the crap out of me :O ! I suspected that it doesn't stand up tto to the test of time, so I haven't seen it since that first viewing. I remember the dog as horrible looking thought .....Beethoven it wasn't!

I went and saw the Alien: Convenant. I thought it was a decent sequel to Prometheus and Fassbener is very good in it. But it doesn't have the tense claustrophobic atmosphere of the first two films int he Alien series. Really it's just telling the story of how the Xenomorphs came to be. More horror than sci-fi too. I have also seen the Blade Runner trailer 2049, not sure what to make of it as I'm not Goslings biggest fan to be honest. I havent' seen the original in years so will have to re-watch it before the sequel is released. One rumour I'm hearing though, is that the Alien films and Blade Runner will exist in the same cinematic universe :O . Universe building seems to be all the rage now!

Haha really enjoyed that one liner vid :D . I hadn't seen some of those in yeeeears!

I have some bad news for you Nog .....they are creating a Transformers universe and there will be a Bumblebee spin off! http://www.imdb.com/news/ni61157906...rd_t=15061&pf_rd_i=homepage&ref_=hm_nw_uk_tp3 . I'm betting Michael Bay will be involved. Will you check it out when it's release lol ?

Also I'm reading that there is going to be an Escape from New Year remake :( : https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...ct-escape-from-new-york-remake-john-carpenter . I don't know why I still get surprised by news like that.

Bit of gaming info now ...my brother is obsessed with that new Dark Souls PS4 game! He can't get enough of it. I played a bit at his house and I just end up wanting to smash things lol . You played it yet?

It's doubtful VR Luge game is a full game. Actually, I just done some digging around its one of a few games in VR Worlds disc for £25. This reminds me... I've recently been watching old Gamesmaster shows and they had one where two guys put on big hi-tech 1992 VR headsets and we see them battle inside a dire 3D sand coloured dungeon with crossbows. I'll find it again if you're interested to see?

I watched Alien Cov online and thought it was one of the worst sci-fi/horror films I've seen in a long while. Almost as bad as those AvP films. Only gave it a chance for Ridleys involvement. I can now safely say he's very much a hit or miss filmmaker for me. I'm one of those rare people who thinks Gladiator is overrated boring rubbish as well.
Bumblebollox film will turn out to be just like its title. The only TF universe I'm interested in spending time with (made after 1990) is the recent game TF Devastation which is superb. Oh, and the PS2 game I played the fuck out of that game when it came out.

I haven't still played Dark Souls on PS4, but I do own the previous two on PS3. I'll prob end up having it christmas gifted to me on Steam by old mate Mosheddy who can be seen playing the game below. Most people/critics will agree the original is still the best. I prefer Demon's Souls the PS3 exclusive (and PS4 soon) over the Dark trilogy for better level design, controls and its tougher overall. There aren't even any bonfires to save checkpoint progess :hide:

I imagine you've heard (old) news there was a third terrorist attack on UK public a few weeks ago in london. But did you know a total of 50 rounds were fired by 8 armed officers? Seems a bit excessive even when acknowledging they thought the 3 men had real bomb vests on them, plus innocent bystanders were in vicinity, etc. Oh well, at least it they got to them sooner rather than later :taped:

Hey Nog, I shall write a proper reply very soon, but was just checking for your response today and notice the massive number of new threads started by a newbie. Not sure what that is all about but hopefully it won't affect the site itself.

Haha yes, I'd definitely like to see the 1992 VR headsets! Speaking of VR, my mate recently acquired the PSVR, I haven't had a go on it yet myself, but he isn't impressed. He is a major gamer but says the resolution isn't what he had hoped it would be. He speculates that it's because developers haven't figured out how to fully utilise it yet.

Transformers is out this weekend lol ! Well I keep hearing that Mark Wahlberg won't be doing any more after this one, says he wants his life back apparently! And Bay himself has intimated that he may step back from them (although he has done this numerous times in the past!). If someone else was helming them would you give them a chance? Would it have to be reboot?

Alien Cov was ok, I'm not sure what Ridley was going for though. But would you agree that Fassbender was very good in his role?

I can't seem to get that twitch vid to load, could be my laptop giving bother. I'll try again later, but what is it about just in case I can't? The cat vid is hilarious though! I love cat vids, they are very odd creatures lol .

Yeah I saw the reports about those attacks in both Manchester and London .....terrible awful things to happen :( . Our society is divided and broken it seems. And more tragedy with the tower that burnt down. It seems like the bad news just doesn't stop :ohdear:.

Did you know they released PSO 2 for the PS4? Still no Western release yet. It seems rather odd though. Would you play it? I would consider it.

I watched Jaws for the first time in years recently. Still an awesome film! You can tell that Robert Shaw was intoxicated through much of it, and the real life animostity between him and Richard Dreyfus shines through nicely :D .

Check out this vid of fearless cats :D

Damn, "fearless" is an accurate description for those kitties. If a half decent director took Bay's place, then sure I would give the next TF a chance. I'd prefer an animated reboot overall. He knows the franchise is raking it in for all involved, so he won't step down. The trailer shows a medievil period or flashback which gives the impression it's the most absurd one yet. I'll admit Fassbender was possibly the only good thing about the Alien Cov film, but his appearances were few and far between.

I never knew PSO 2 was available on PS4 actually. I've watched some brief gameplay and I would likely play it if I could find the english version plus afford a PS4 to play it on. I see there's a few people who still play the Dreamcast version via a certain type of broadband adapter. What did you do with your DC and games after Sega discontinued the service in 2007? Have you ever owned any peripherals besides regular controllers? such as light gun, dance mat, and did you think they it was an improvement over the controller? Time Crisis on PS1 with G-con gun worked pretty well.

I last saw Jaws several years ago. Is part 2 worth seeing? Don't have any memory of it. Not really the type of series I revisit often. Am I the only person on the planet who liked Jaws the revenge...? I used to enjoy it whenever it came on TV.
That 80s DVD which I withheld mentioning in my previous post was 2-disc edition of Tron. Ever seen it before? It's the one with a young Jeff Bridges zapped inside a dark arcade game. Interesting to learn how the actors never fully understood any of the dialogue involving computer lingo such as users and programs.

Probably the most amusing scene in the film.

Ah, found the GM episode featuring VR crossbow deathmatch game. I expected to spend at least 30 mins clicking around for it, but one kind soul has uploaded the section by itself.

In Tron they were zapped inside an arcade game? Lol I have seen it but never realised that's what they were transported into!

Hah the early VR tech in that vid is amusing. I'll post a proper reply in the next few days Nog. Just having some problems in my life at the moment so I have to run on here quickly. I shall reply very soon though !

Where did you suspect they were transported to when you watched Tron? How old were you? I must admit I couldn't even hazard a guess when I noticed it on TV once. I'm pretty sure I did miss the initial 20 minutes of the film. I also never even knew it was called Tron until many years later.

Lol I must have been about 7/8 when I watched Tron and in my childs brain I figured it was just a computer he was zapped into, I didn't realise it was a game. Although thinking logically it makes perfect sense since it was all a competition inside the machine.

Watching your vid just reminds me of how inventive Tron was, just like a lot of 80's films. The imagination seems to have gone from Hollywood for the most part.

I know someone who went and saw that new Transformers film, apparently there is just no story at all and Anthony Hopkins has a robot butler for some reason lol!

I didn't realise people could still play PSO online via Dreamcast. Has someone set up a private server or something? I remember hearing that the PC version, which was called PSO Blueblust, was still on the go for a long time after Sega shut down the Dreamcast version, do you know if it's still going? PSO seems to have been much loved by a lot of people for them to still be playing it after all this time. Makes you wonder why it took Sega so long to bring out a proper sequal and why they didn't move heaven and earth to release it in the west. After Sega discontinued PSO service in 2007 I eventually sold my Dreamcast to a second hand store, it was just taking up room as I never played it anymore. What about you? You still got yours?

I have only ever owned peripherals fro 2 consoles. We had the light gun for the original NES for duck hunt lol, but we also had the dance mat thing for the Wii, along with the Wii nunchuck controller. For standard style games I always found a normal game pad to be far easier to use, I thought the nunchuck was really awkward for games like Mario Cart. Come to think of it we also had the steering wheel for the Wii, which again was quite awkward to use until you got use to it. What about you? Any peripherals other than the G-Con gun for PS1?

I think you might indeed be the only person on earth to like Jaws the Revenge lol ! Jaws 2 is decent, it's basically a remake of sorts but not as good as the first one. If you see it on telly you should give it a watch. Roy Scheider is still good in the role as Brody, but there is no Quint or Hooper so the banter/tension between that trio is very much missed.

Speaking of 80's films, a friend of mine is planning to host a James Cameron film night. One of the films will be The Abyss! Loved that film but haven't seen it in years. I may try to acquire the 3 hour directors cut and throw it into the mix for that evening. Have you ever seen that extended cut? Is it worth watching and does it make the film better?

I'll make a full post soon when I find the spare time, until then I wanted to leave you with this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1677720/

I saw an advert for it last night which grabbed me. An upcoming games themed film set 30 years in future featuring 80s/90s popcult references, mostly unknown actors and best of all it's directed by Spielberg. Looks like it could be quite fun, but imdb states it's simply a sci-fi action affair while the trailer displays moments of goofball comedy ...and that's my only complaint. A quick name check on writers shows it's from the minds behind Avengers and X-men sequels.

I'm sure PSO blueburst PC server remains online and if it doesn't there's likely a private server in its place. Reminds me, I've been playing a lot of co-op shooter Destiny this year and must admit, apart from the headset chat, the player to player communication is super limited compared to what PSO offered 15 years earlier with its customised emoticon style images, gestures on F keys, trade profile cards etc.
I kept my DC and games until selling the lot on eBay couple of years ago. When we used to play PSO, I recall my DC died and needed to find a replacement asap. Luckily went on eBay and found someone flogging DC alone in perfect condition for a mind-bending £10. Peripherals I've owned other than G-con would be Light Phaser gun which came with Master System, aaaand this is stretching it, but I bought a PS1 link cable so me and old mate could link up two consoles and wage strategic warfare upon each other in Command & Conquer. That was my generations version of Call of Duty.

I've got the directors cut of The Abyss. You can probably find it in your local shops for under £3 like I did. I bought it originally on its release in 2001 but watched it so many times it the disc started skipping so i had to bin it. Pretty much every directors cut of films made by Jimmy C. are superior to their theatrical cut. Does your friend have his own cinema room at home or simply a huge TV set? Which of Jimmy C's films have you seen directors cuts of? btw, I saw an interview from Jimmy where he has informed fans he won't be doing anything original for a while because he's committed to making Avatar sequels. Sigh.
But on the plus side, are you aware T2 will be shown in cinemas at end of the month in the third dimension? No, neither did I. They should have made it for last summer lazy gits. Will you be attending? It might well be another 25 years for an occurance of this kind. And in case you were wondering, I've done a little research and it's not the extended version.

And the award to best youtube clip I've seen in July goes to...

Hey there Nog. Just a quick post, but I'll write a proper reply when I get a chance. But I managed to get hold of a copy of the directors cut of The Abyss on DVD! Apparently it was never released on Blue ray in the UK?

Ready Player one does look intriguing! I like two of the actresses in it Hannah John-Kamen and Olivia Cooke. I've seen them both in a few things, but in particular a silly but fun sci-fi show called Killjoys and the Bates Motel tv show.

Have to agree on Destiny! Surely the fun of an MMORPG is that the interaction and gaming with others from around the world. If the comms aren't great then you will find it difficult to get decent gaming teams set up. My brother was banging on about that for ages. There is a full proper sequel to it coming though, but not sure if it will be successful. Anyone I know who owned it was pissed off with the very expensive add ons. Would you check out the sequel?

Ahhh good old Command and Conquer! I loved Red Alert, the cut scenes were hilarious lol! Did you ever play it?

I have seen Terminator 2 directors version and Aliens I think! Also have seen the Abyss directors cut, which was much better! Not sure I'll get to see 3D T2 in the cinema, saving for a holiday currently lol. Do you think you will see it? What Jim Cameron directors editions have you seen? The trailer looks awesome! I still can't believe that the scene near the end where you see 2 Sarah Connors was not camera trickery but involved Linda Hamiltons twin sister!

Speaking of sci-fi films by Jim Cameron, do you think he is going too far with all those Avatar sequels? You were saying that he has stated that he won't be doing much else until they are all done. And there are going to be 4 more of them!! I'm not sure how there could be enough story for it. What do you think? I enjoyed the first one but not sure where it can go. Also apparently he is working on glasses free 3D technology for them!

Haha that Mike Tyson clip is great lol ! He keeps moving his head trying to dodge the punches  .

Hey did you know they are remaking Death Wish with Bruce Willis playing the lead? What is the point!? Speaking of Bruce, there is another Die Hard film coming called Die Hard Year One. no details as yet about the plot, but the title makes it sound like a prequel :sadno:

Have you taken to watching Game of Thrones at all? Man it's amazing, you should really give it a go! Can't recommend it enough (not perfect but just very very good!)

I need Destiny expansions (taken king) for the full experience because I've only played the limited content of the base game. I might check out Destiny 2 seeing as it has made its way on to PC unlike the original did. How much did they pay for add-ons? I've seen it for reasonable prices.

C&C Red Alert? yes, of course I played it. The game was released shortly after the original. We used to laugh at the commando unit one liners when you order them to bomb enemy bases "I got a present for ya!". After that came Tiberian Sun with cutscenes featuring Michael Biehn and James Earl Joes. Every C&C title I saw after that just came across as boring expansions or lazy sequels with slappers in hot pants holding guns bigger than them.

Shenmue 3 teaser has just been released by Sega. Some fans are already regretting their fund towards the project on kickstarter based on these weak animations and details. I think they should calm down and realise the game is still work in progress. Any interest in playing it? It will be on PS4.

JC films I've seen director cuts of include T2, Abyss and Aliens many years ago. I noticed you asked why there is no BluRay for Abyss which I agree is absurd, then I saw JC interview where he was asked about this and he replied "currently working on it". There were so many great scenes/moments removed in T2 which they could have found a little space for. One springs to mind which I'll link below. In the audio commentries I heard someone say they were going to have a scene at the mental hospital where T-1000 conceals his handgun inside his stomach before walking through a metal detector, but they didn't have the time to go film it. Or perhaps it dawned on them it probably wouldn't make much sense if he's entirely made of liquid metal.
JC has most likely been fascinated by 3D technology for most of his career. Ever seen T2 Battle Across Time? It was a 3D attraction for theme parks only in 1996, but you can find it on youtube nowadays fortunately. I agree he's going overboard with Avatar sequels if he intends making not one but four of the bastards. It's been almost ten years, so I doubt most the hardened fans give a monkeys about it all now.

I actually watched Death Wish (1974) recently out of curiosity and thought it had no redeeming qualities. I never knew a remake had been made until the trailer came on TV about a week later. At least they're remaking an old duff film which won't be challenging to be improved upon for a change. The original garnered half dozen sequels. What were people going to see them for exactly? Bronson's hairdo and moustache? Better yet, how did he manage to get away donning that exact same look for the majority of his acting career?

Found some hilarious mid '90s introduction to the internet on windows 95. Be warned, it is unspeakably corny. Feels like some public information film from the 1950s instead! How did you react?

Take a spin! Now you're in! With the techno-set! You're goin surfin' on the inter-net! *dies inside*
