Ah, it seems I've returned at a good time. Happy New 2017, Dis :) (and Tweeg if he shows his avatar anytime soon!) Nah, Skynet hasn't defeated us all just yet.

I'm still using public computers since making the decision to live without the net at home. I like to think of it as a digital detox, ha.

Did you receive any gaming gifts or gadgets for xmas?

I didn't this year, just mostly cash in cards, but I did receive a few films. That underrated 90s action flick set on Alcatraz island, The Rock. Still Bay's only genuinely good film. Red Dwarf series 1-4 and Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children in time for the anticipated PS4 remake which better live up to the original in some regards. Worth watching if you ever find the time. Best place to view it and loads of other old films (2005 was 12 years ago bloody hell) would be stage.vu and make sure you find the english version. There's many uploads of foreign languages on that site.

Look at this. I found out Michael Biehn was on Wogan once in 1991. That story about not really working with Arnold is one he still tells people nowadays almost word for word LOL. Ahh, legend of his time.

Apologies for the late reply Nog. Been a hectic week!

I didn't get any gaming gadgets for xmas, but my folks bought myself and all my brothers breathalisers lol. She was worried about any potential for still being over the limit the day after any partying, so we can now test to make sure lol.

Ah The Rock, a true classic! Haven't seen it in a few years but it's definitely Connery at his best!

Just watching that Biehn vid and hearing him say "I'm kind of a favourite of Jim Cameron". That didn't last it seems :ohdear: .

Speaking of Jim Cameron .....this may amuse you :Veryhappy: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...r-arnold-schwarzenegger-genisys-a7540526.html

I'm pushed for time at present, but i'll return later to extend my post hopefully. Those breathalisers sound like a good idea if you have a mild booze addiction lol. Have you ever been pulled over for dodgy driving after a night out?

What are you playing on PC or PS4 these days? Did your brother ever lend you Metal Gear Solid?
I just registered one of those game code slips from Dark Souls 2 which earned me 1500 points. It's a shame the Namco Bandai site is offering me zilch for that amount :(

Whatever happened to Tweeg and Diamond, etc? Maybe we should send them a PM?
Does someone pay to keep this site going or is it free? I remember being on a film forum a few years ago and the moderator once mentioning it costs him $40 per month.

Lol no I haven't personally ever been pulled over. I am always careful to not drive any time soon after drinking. You?

What sort of things are offered on the Bandai site for higher points?

Not sure what happened to Tweeg or Diamond. I don't think Diamond ever came back after the site under went updating and the passwords all got reset. If I recall correctly the site wasn't accessible for a while when it was undergoing the update ....perhaps Diamond thought it was dead and never tried it again? Seems unlikely, but it's been a long long time. Tweeg himself hasn't been on in a year I think. He seemed to have a lot less time when he got that new job. Maybe we should send some pm's indeed!

I think Dick runs the site, if it's being paid for then he is the one doing it. I assume there are some moderators for the site, but they don't seem to frequent it either. Dick did put a lot of work into the refurbishment so it's odd that he hasn't made an appearance either.

Ill try to send a pm now anyhow.

I don't own any form of automobile, so I don't have to worry about that. Indeed, The Rock is very good film. I like how the villains turn on each at the end other rather than follow the generic formula. I remember seeing it on commercials around the time Euro '96 was on TV and wanting to go see it at cinema, but sadly I wasn't 15 at the time and couldn't convince staff there either... HA no chance.

Euro '96 was arguably the closest England ever came to winning a tournament surely? Since 1966 world cup of course. Could have won penalties if it was a little more organised with who took them.

The items available on Bandai site had mostly sold out. I wanted Dark Souls keyring/clothing, but all I could see there was soundtracks and mousepads from dodgy Jap RPGs. So which games have you been playing over past few months? Have you ever experienced Half-Life series? I recently purchased The Orange Box which is a compilation of those games plus Portal. I never knew Tony Todd provided a few voices in Half-Life. He's one of the villains in The Rock who gets impaled on a steel pole and was Candyman in the 1992 horror flick which I haven't seen for yonks.

Sorry for the slow reply time Nog. I guess we are all getting busier as we get older eh.
I haven't seen The Rock in a while, but it is a brilliant films. One of Michael Biehns last big hitters I suppose.

Euro 96 was the last time England made it as far as a semi-final I think. Been nothing but disappointment since lol. Can't see that changing any time soon.

I have never played Half-Life ....what type of game is it? I haven't been playing any games lately, just been watching Netflix if I get any free time during the week lol. Ever seen a show called Rick and Morty? Kind of like a surreal version of of Marty and Doc Brown lol. Speaking of Tony Todd, he did the voice of the villain in season 2 of The Flash apparently lol.

You planning to see the new Kong film? Looks quite good actually, they made Kong look like the original.

Last but not least, I'm sure you heard about the passing of the legend Bill Paxton  . I plan to watch a few of his classics, like Near Dark, in honour of the great man.

I rarely watch TV news, but I've been listening to radio almost every morning recently and the station I listen to never mentioned - although it usually does with famous folk - the passing of Bill Paxton, so you're the first to inform of this grim news.
Man, you already knew I'm a fan of Jim Cameron and Biehn's work, but I never really expressed that I also love Paxton's back catalog just as much as those two. Besides watching his classics we all know (i.e Aliens), you should get round to seeing his lesser known films in this order: A Simple Plan, Trespass, One False Move, Navy Seals, Tombstone (co-stars again with Biehn, plus Kurt Russel etc). And later report back here with your opinion of the film? At least viewing one of them would be very generous. I know I've previously suggested Stage.vu for old films, but it looks like it's been down for some time >.< Oh well, there's always google video for searching full movies or Netflix/LoveFilm if they're on there.
I've just installed a new broadband connection, so I'll be posting more frequently now :) And of course, i'll be informed of news as soon as everyone else heh.
Now that you mention Near Dark, do you remember the little vampire kid? I saw him in a teen slackers movie called Rivers Edge which I found on my external hard drive that's been hiding on there for 5 years. He's even more of an amusing juvenile delinquent in that. When he's not stealing booze from a corner shop, shooting lobsters in a bucket with air rifle, breaking and entering to steal a firearm, he's calling Keanu Reeves a.... well here it is below. Oh man, I nearly rolled off my mint green sofa! That's worth watching on repeat. And I used to wear the same clothes as the nun-chuk lad when I was that age, ha ha. We even used to build nun-chuks by sawing a broomstick and nailing two sticks together with a skaters chain.

I've had a look at Kong Skull Island trailer. Is that the right one? It looks like some sort of unexpected monster comedy set in vietnam war? but the young couple look far too contemporary for that suggestion to ring true... help my confusion.

I've recently discovered the existance of Jumanji 2 and I'm not entirely sure what to make of it considering I never saw the original. It's a spiritual sequel according to wiki, but the title remains the same as original. Maybe that will change between now and release in Dec. Were you aware this film was upcoming?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumanji_(2017_film)

Just made another discovery which makes you sigh at Hollywood once again. Almost as despicable as remaking Goodfellas. How do they expect to improve the original merits in any form? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2066055/

Remember playing on the Sega Mega Drive around friends houses? Yeah, those were the days. More accurately, do you remember the console upgrades Mega CD and 32X which Sega released for it? They had their own seperate games, but what I don't think many gamers knew was that Sega developed a small numer of games for the minority of people who owned both of them. They have no outstanding difference to regular Mega CD games. Both of them made prominent use of full-motion video. It goes to show how Sega could never come to a single decision with their next console and stick to that decision for the following few years. Only wealthy avid Sega fans went and purchased those upgrades because most of us knew Saturn would soon be available. Just 6 months after the 32X release actually and that was discontinued after about a year.

Here's the whole silly business below and an example of the games I was describing is in the link. The eBay prices aren't much different to their store price back in the day. Yeah, I get it - only a limited amount of copies ever existed.

I did watch Aliens, Near Dark and Tombstone in honour of Mr Paxton. Tombstone is rather good, Biehn makes a great bad guy Johnny Ringo! I remember at the time that film came out there was a Kevin Costner film about Wyatt Earp that also came out. Tombstone, I have to say, is far superior in my opinion!

Haha, I do remember that vampire kid very well, he did a decent job of portraying a grown up trapped in a kids body, I wonder what ever happened to him. A quick imdb check shows that he didnt really get much work after 1991. Shame, but it seems to happen to a lot of kid actors.
Lol, yeah we used to act like we were ninjas too, might have had something to do with the Turtles! Never tried to make nunchucks, but really should have!

The Kong movie is set just after the end of the Vietnam War, it is a bit silly but still entertaining. I hear that is intended to exist in the same universe as Godzilla and the two will have a team up film soon! There is a post credits scene that hints strongly at this.

Looks like that Jumaji sequal is actually happening with Dwayne the Rock Johnson. Find it odd to make a sequel this long after the original, not sure what to make of it. I would give the original a go, it's quite fun for a bit of distraction and Robin Williams is quite good in it. But to remake Scarface  ?! My opinion is that is a souless attempt to cash in and will never match the original. Why do this hollywood??

I knew of the Mega CD and 32X, but never ever played one. None of my friends got them, which was probably a good thing considering the lack of support they were given. Did you ever get the play on the combo version?

Speaking of old classics, what do you think of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Do you have a Switch or Wii U? It looks really good, but I can't justify the cost of buying either just so that I can play the game. Shame they don't bring them out on other platforms. Also have you got the chance to play Horizon: Zero Dawn? This is a game that intrigues me, I am hoping it has a really good story but not at the expense of gameplay.

P.S. you shall be delighted to know there is another Bay Transformers movie coming this year :wut: :rolling:. I take you you shall be watching it? lmao .

P.P.S. have you seen the trailer for the remake of It?

I see you took unspeakable pleasure in enquiring if I knew about Bayformers 5, you pothead fuck-brain! (half serious). Yeah, funnily enough a few days before your last post I saw a poster for it somewhere online and kinda hoped it was fake shit. It took me a couple of minutes to work out if you were asking if I've seen trailer for a remake of Transformers 1, or (eventually) the remake of IT based on the King horror novel. Nah, I don't often go looking up horror remakes. I just notice them advertised around release time. The trailer makes it look very uncreative, copy and paste job. Any idea if it will show the kids when they're adults like the original did? The first half of it was creepy with the clown messing the kids around, after that the rest was dull seeing them finally confront a huge spider in some cave. So, it was nothing too memorable for me in the first place. People did often talk about IT when horror film discussion popped up. I remember the video's back cover making it look pretty stark and it turned out to be fairly tame.

The kid from Near Dark could have possibly made a career change and quit acting when he was grown up around 1991 which might explain the sudden absence on his imdb page. Ah nice, you watched Tombstone among other films... if you thought Biehn was an interesting villain in that, you should check out The Abyss. He's a warhead arming nutjob with a handlebar moustache who almost kicks off world war 3 with russia... yeah, not even exaggerating.
Speaking of Cameron films, did you know the girl from Aliens has never acted before or since it came out?

The teaser for Blade Runner 2 came out in Dec. Have you seen it yet? Here's link below. Looks like it should be out in couple months time . I'm relieved to see there's no lame actors involved in it. I could be way off, but I'm gonna say (or rather type) that scene of him wandering around desert is a dream sequence.

I never got round to playing Sega CD+32X combo or the CD itself. I did own 32X with Virtua Fighter though at one point and I really wanted Doom for it, but only one store in my area stocked a few 32X games and none of them grabbed my attention. That new Zelda game received a 10 from Edge mag, so it's probably worth playing. I'd need to save up for a Switch first. I haven't owned any Nintendo since Wii came out. I'm sticking with my gaming PC and PS3 for now. Also haven't played Horizon yet as it's PS4 only, but a mate will shortly begin streaming his gameplay on twitch i'm sure. I had a go on Street Fighter 5 few months ago which doesn't look or feel any different to SF4. This may explain its disappointing sales for capcom. Man, back in the early 90s when SF2 was in a league of its own, would you expect the series would only be at Part 5 by now?

Really fun multi genre 8-bit game featuring boss character Abobo from Double Dragon and many other NES titles. Let us know how far you progressed?

After watching T2 for the zillionth time in my life, I've only just noticed a really funny blooper which I don't want to spoil in words. So just keep your eyes on left side of screen when the swat leader shouts "OK, drop him!"

I don't think you could consider the new It to be a remake, the first one was a low budget tv mini series. I agree that if you watch it now you see it's not as memorable as you might expect. Tim Curry was good though. I think this version will be slit into two movies. The first will focus on the kids I believe (I hear the subtitle is The Losers Club). I plan to read the book prior to September though, people keep telling me it's one of Kings best. P.S. I don't think the actual creature from the books was a giant spider ....something far more sinister which wasn't really touched on in the 1990 version.

Oh yes i've seen the Abyss many times, I loved that film, another Cameron sci-fi classic! Biehn was great in the role, it was very atmospheric and the tension built perfectly towards a satisfying end (so many sci-fi films fail with their ending). Speaking of good sci-fi, did you ever get to see Arrival? I recommend it highly as a thought provoker.

I did see that trailer for Bladerunner ....teases nicely! I haven't seen the original for many many years. Will have to give it a rewatch before this one is released. Harrisons appearance in the trailer does answer a question the question about decker being a replicant.

Ah Streetfighter 2 ....a true arcade classic! I always preferred Mortal Combat for some reason though. I remember getting Mortal Combat 2 for the Amiga lol. Which did you prefer?

In that T2 vid, is the blooper the man walking in the background outside the window lol ?

I'll give that 8-bit game a go shortly, but speaking of gaming i've been playing the first COD Modern Warfare game. still quite a lot of fun, and doesn't take up too much time! Did you ever play it? I wish they would bring out another Left 4 Dead though. Or a really good real time strategy game.

Also speaking of Stephen King did you hear they are turning The Mist into a tv series? Here is the trailer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5639976/?ref_=nv_sr_1

You're the one who described IT (1990) as a remake, my old china. I've never even heard of Arrival before, but it doesn't look like my cup of tea after all.

As for SF2 versus Mortal Kombat. well, I remember first watching SF2 on a mates Amiga and liking it and SF2 Turbo even more when I tried that on the SNES. It is a better fighting game than MK overall, but in those days I did prefer playing/renting MK games more. If they didn't include the fatalities it would've been a diff story. I remember spending one night playing MK 2 and executing LiuKang's dragon chomp on every win because it was only one we could pull off properly ha! Killer Instinct on SNES was really good at the time too, but it's almost unplayable plop now. I remember watching the MK film with a bunch of mates when it was out to rent and we had a punch-up whilst it was on. This little kid called Damian kicked a tall lad Hicks (surname) in the jewels and said "The hicks... has been dicksed". Then he reciprocated by picking him up and chuckin him on sofa, followed by "the Salt ....has been peppered!"

Have I ever played COD MW.... hmm don't think so, but its a yes to some Battlefield titles. Bad Company is quite addictive I must admit. I think Valve would have released a third L4D game by now if they intended to. They haven't released any games in the past 5 years besides DOTA 2. Have you played that game? It's a pretty good real-time strategy game free to play on Steam. You may as well download the demo for Payday games because they are a L4D clone, except you're shooting swat teams instead of zombies plus it has more objectives and weapon upgrades. Are you on Steam yet? If not, what have you been doing with your life man.

I expect the Mist TV series will be a Netflix exclusive this year and loads of people will binge on it just like all the other shows. Oh man, typing that reminds me of something I was going to ask ages ago. Have you seen/heard of Westworld TV series? I need to get round to seeing it. Ed Harris is involved. It's about replicant style androids that are programmed to work inside a cctv monitored amusement park, roleplaying with the guests in various historical settings like ancient rome or the old west as townsfolk and gunslingers. How could anything possibly go wrong under those circumstances...
