    dreamcast games coming to ps3!!!
likely even wii and 360 too.

sony will plan to stop backward compatibility of ps2 and ps1 games in favor of selling down loadable games on their psn. in a leaked sega document, it mentions sony selected dreamcast games will make it to the psn.

Far to little to late to save the floundering PS3. And is it just me, or is it incredibly ironic they (Sony) would be resorting to DC games in an attempt to bolster PSN?

Haha, yea, it is kinda ironic. But, I heard that the PS3 is doing better now they lowered the prices a bit. Blu-rays and HDTV's are becoming more mainstream which probably helps.

Still, I saw a standalone Blu-Ray player from Philips that's probably better at it then the PS3, for just 150 bucks!

Indeed, standalone Blu-Ray players can be had for nearly a third the price of a PS3, and with better play features than the PS3 has. Only reason the PS2 took off as well as it did was because it was one of the cheapest DVD players on the market for a couple of years after it debuted, but PS3 isn't quite so lucky like that.

It was one of the cheaper Blu-Ray players for the longest of time until the TV manufacturers started pushing high def LCDs more and the battle with HD-DVD was over. The main benefit of the PS3 is that the firmware allows the most up-to-date changes for whatever garb or enhancements the new movies support. (e.g.: the online content portion).
